Times table practice that grows with a child
A times table sum on the screen, type the answer, find out straight away whether it was right. A child who signs in practises automatically at its own practice level and climbs to harder tables on its own; anyone who would rather choose can tick a few tables instead. The tool also works without an account, as a plain times tables trainer. Free, no adverts.
How it works
Type the answer
There is an empty box under the sum. On a tablet or a phone the number pad opens on its own; press Enter or the button to hand in the answer.
See straight away whether it was right
The tool works the sum out itself and shows at once whether the answer was right or wrong. Then the next sum arrives, until the round of ten sums is done.
Practise at your own practice level
A child who signs in sees no settings, only one line: "Practice level 4 · The hard ones". Enough sums right, and quick enough, and the tool moves on to the next practice level by itself.
Or choose your own tables
The "Choose your own" button opens a short list of tables to tick. Useful for the seven times table that still trips a child up, or for a teacher who wants the whole class practising one table.
Why one times table sum should not weigh the same for every child
A worksheet of a hundred mixed times table sums is a warm-up for one child and a wall for another. This tool starts at the first three tables, the ones and twos and tens, and only widens once a child shows it has those tables down: enough sums right, answered quickly enough.
That happens on its own, with no number that reads like a school report. A practice level says what a child can do fluently today, and is not a judgement of how good it is: this is a practice tool, not a test.
If a child slips back on a table for a while, the practice level moves back with it. The tool simply changes the line to say so; there is no red screen and no message.
Choosing your own tables, for the classroom board or for focused practice
Not every moment calls for a child's own practice level. A teacher who wants the whole class on the eight times table, or a child who wants another go at one awkward table, presses "Choose your own" and ticks the tables the tool may ask.
That free practice still earns points, the same as an ordinary round, but it never changes the practice level: a child who deliberately ticks the easy tables cannot practise its way upward that way. Without an account the tool only works this way, as a plain times tables trainer with no practice level of its own.
What happens to an answer
Every sum that is typed is kept against the child's account: right or wrong, and how long it took. That is how the tool knows which sums still take effort, so those come up a little more often than one that has long been quick.
That history belongs to the child. It disappears on its own after a year, the same as the other practice rounds on Reppilo, and a teacher never sees more than where a child stands on the tables.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to make an account?
No, the tool also works without signing in. Without an account it is a plain times tables trainer: no practice level that grows with the child, just ordinary times table practice.
What happens when a child signs in?
A child signed in on a school account gets the tables tool at its own practice level. Instead of settings it sees one line with the name of the practice level and a small bar that fills as enough right, quick sums come in.
Can I choose which tables are asked?
Yes. The "Choose your own" button opens a short list of tables to tick, for everyone, with or without an account. For a child on its practice level, that round does not count towards the practice level.
Does it work on the classroom board for the whole class?
Yes. Without signing in it is a plain times tables trainer a teacher can use to have the whole class practise together, on whichever tables are set at the time.
Does it work on a touchscreen?
Yes. The answer box opens the number pad on a tablet or a phone, so a child never has to hunt past letters to find a digit.
Does it cost anything?
No. Every tool on Reppilo is free to use, with no adverts.
