How it works
Choose the tables
Switch on the tables you want to practise, from 1 to 12, or take a quick pick such as 1 to 10. Three example sums show what is coming.
Type the answer
There is an empty box under the sum. On a tablet or a phone the number pad opens on its own; press Enter or the button to hand in the answer.
See straight away whether it was right
The tool works the sum out itself and shows at once whether the answer was right or wrong. Then the next sum arrives. You carry on until you press Stop.
Practise the ones you missed
After Stop you see per table how many went right and quickly. "Practise the ones I missed" carries on with exactly the sums that still took effort.
Why a sum that went wrong comes back
A worksheet of a hundred mixed times table sums is a warm-up for one child and a wall for another. This tool only asks the tables that are switched on, and keeps track during the session of what went wrong or slowly.
Such a sum comes back a few sums later, together with the sums next to it: miss 7 × 8 and 6 × 8 or 8 × 7 comes round again too. There is no red screen and no number that reads like a school report: this is a practice tool, not a test.
On the classroom board, and with a test or a race
A teacher who wants the whole class on the eight times table switches on only that table and lets the class answer together. With Answers set to Multiple choice there are four buttons under the sum, handy on a board you touch.

What happens to an answer
A round stays in the browser. The tool keeps no answers from a child, also when the child signs in, and nothing a child practises here counts for its class. A teacher who signs in and practises earns points with a round; even then the sums themselves are not kept.

Does what a child practises here count for the class?
No. The times tables tool keeps nothing for a child: no answers, no points and no minutes towards a task.

Yes, the tables from 1 to 12. You switch them on right on the page, or take a quick pick such as 1 to 10.
Does it work on the classroom board for the whole class?
Yes. A teacher switches on the tables that are being learnt at the time and has the whole class practise together, also without signing in.
Does it work on a touchscreen?
