What we mean by cookies
A cookie is a small file a site keeps in your browser. We also use the browser's own storage, for settings that never need to reach the server. On this page we call both of them "cookies".
The necessary ones below are always there: without them logging in does not work and the site forgets your language. We do not ask consent for those, because there is no site without them.
For statistics and screen recordings we do ask, and until you say yes they stay off.
Necessary
These are always there. They keep you logged in, remember your settings and protect forms against abuse.

In your browser, not with us
These settings stay on your own device and are never sent to the server. They belong to that one board or that one laptop.

Statistics and screen recordings
We would like to know which tools are used and where somebody gets stuck, so we improve the right things. For that we count visits and make screen recordings: a replayable picture of what happened on the page.
A recording is about the use of the site and not about the class. What you type is masked, the names in the group maker are not recorded at all — they show up as a grey block — and we do not record what is drawn on the whiteboard.
We use PostHog for this, with the data on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt). Nothing goes to advertising companies and this site carries no advertising.
We only switch this on once you accept in the cookie notice. Say no and nothing is placed, nothing is measured and nothing is recorded: the code is not even loaded.

Changing your choice
At the bottom of every page there is a button to make your cookie choice again. Your choice holds for six months; after that we ask again.
You can also clear or block cookies in your browser. Clear them all and you are logged out and the tools are back at their default settings.
